Ok, so we have progressed!
On Friday 11/13 we got a call that the birthmother looked at the books and chose us!! She is giving this decision it's due consideration and thinking it over for a few days. Today, she is scheduled to see her social worker today and decide whether she wants to meet us. If she does, the meeting will be next week Monday/Tuesday. If not, then we'll go back into the pool and wait for someone else to pick us. OMG...the suspense of this (not to mention the emotion) is so intense!

To pass the time, I am in nesting mode. I put an adoraable decal of a tree on the wall of the nursery. I also bought a stroller...make that: I bought THE stroller. My coveted Orbit Baby. Ooohhh...I love this stroller. I am so excited to pay a ridiculous amount for a stroller. Is that crazy?

So, we wait.....

SO.... the BM is in labor! OMG. But she has not even looked at the parent books yet, so we have no idea if she will a) decide to parent, b) pick us or c) pick someone else. URG.
Linda said she'll call as soon as she knows anything.
This is absolute torture....
At least we have each other in this. Doing this alone is unimaginable.
Yippee for the Yankees - World Champs!

No sooner did I paint the bedroom, on the "if you build it they will come" theory did we get our first call about a potential Birth Mother!
No word yet...still waiting to see if we are chosen. We are one of four families she is considering.
We are living on total pins and needles until next week (but very guarded).
This process is hard from start to finish.
Thank God for the World Series....something to distract us. GO Yanks!

First Blog Post!

This is my first Blog post. I'm not sure exactly how this works.

My name is Sylvia and I want to be a Mommy. My husband Ian wants to be a Daddy. We always knew we wanted to adopt but we were married kind of late and decided to give biology a try. We tried the "old fashioned way" for 2 years and after a couple of losses decided that we'd rather be parents than be perpetual fertility patients....so we went back to our original plan of domestic adoption.

We started the process in May 2009 and completed our home study in August 2009 with Spence Chapin here in NYC. Now we are waiting for a match....and waiting....and waiting. It's been 8 weeks and I'm not a very patient person!

Check out the link to our profile on Spence-Chapin's website:

I'll post again when something happens!
